GuitarTech

Privacy Policy

Last updated July 6, 2026

GuitarTech is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app does and does not do with your information. GuitarTech is developed and published by McCABE Technologies LLC ("McCABE Tech Labs," "we," or "us").

Your data stays with you

GuitarTech has no user accounts and no sign-in. Everything you enter — your guitars, basses, amps, pedals, photos, values, and notes — is stored on your device, and if you are signed in to iCloud it also syncs to your own private iCloud database so a lost or new phone doesn't mean a lost collection. That iCloud copy belongs to your Apple account and is protected by Apple — we run no servers that receive it and we cannot read it. You can turn iCloud syncing off any time in iOS Settings, and the app works fully without it. Anything that would ever reach a service we can read will be opt-in, under your control (see "Changes" below).

Photos and camera

The app uses your camera and photo library only to let you attach images to your gear. Photos — including AI background removal — are processed entirely on your device and saved locally. The photo processing happens on your device, not in the cloud.

Subscriptions

GuitarTech Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment and manages your subscription; we never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

No tracking or ads

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. It does not track you across other apps or websites, and it shows no ads.

Exporting and sharing your data

GuitarTech lets you export your own data whenever you like — a CSV of your collection, a PDF insurance schedule, or a complete backup file — and share it through the standard iOS share sheet to Files, iCloud Drive, email, or another app. This only happens when you choose it; the app never sends your data anywhere on its own.

Backups & iCloud sync

When you are signed in to iCloud, your collection syncs to your private iCloud database — encrypted and managed by Apple under your Apple account, with no access for us. Separately, if you have iCloud device backups enabled, your GuitarTech data may be included in those backups, which are also controlled by your Apple settings. The app's own Back Up All Data feature creates a file you control and store wherever you choose.

Contacting support

If you email support, we receive whatever you choose to send, including the app version and iOS version that are pre-filled in the message. We use it only to help you.

Launch-updates email list (website)

If you choose to enter your email address in the "notify me at launch" form on this website, we store that address with our website host (Netlify) and use it only to send occasional GuitarTech launch news. We never sell or share it, there is no marketing drip, and you can be removed at any time by emailing admin@mccabetechlabs.com. This form is part of the website only — the app itself sends nothing.

Children

GuitarTech is not directed at children under 13 and is not intended for their use.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. As we add features — for example services that connect you with third parties such as insurance providers — any data that would reach a service we can read will be opt-in, and we will update this policy and the app's App Store privacy details before those features launch. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
